Today is my last day at ADC and I've got a week of packing up the apartment ahead of me. The weather has been really sucky lately so it shouldn't be too hard to stay inside and pack a room a day (I hope).

Traffic was hideous this morning on the way to work. It took an hour and a half. Normally, the travel time is more like 30 to 45 minutes. Some sort of wierd post Columbus Day thing?

The stress of getting ready to move is starting to hit me. I know I have a week to spend packing after my last day at work, which I know is more than enough time, but I'm starting to freak out a little. Perhaps it is because it is a big deal.

Some sites are added to external links today.

I finally got around to including the grab directory in the design of this site. Just a little Perl. We'll see how it goes. Also, some links have been added to external links.

Okay, it was worth it, for sure, paying to get into the Something Awful Forums. It takes some getting used to, and I think it'll be some time before I post anything, but I may start playing along with the Photoshop Phridays stuff... in private. Until I'm good enough.

I also came across istockphoto.com again. I've been there before, but perhaps I wasn't paying attention then or something. I will be using it to get stock photos for stuff I do. It's cheap, and the photos are generally good, and you don't have to deal with the big evil companies.

Most everything on the site is up.

I'm still looking for work down in Iowa. Hoping for the best outcome possible, whatever that is. For the first time in a month I am not going to Cedar Falls for the weekend to work on the house. Of course, I am going next weekend. That means I'll miss Look Ma, No Pants, the monthly show Doug is in. I think it will be only the second time I've missed him perform in LMNoP. That's alotta shows.

I broke down today and joined the Something Awful Forums. But, Joey was right, it is only 9.95 for a lifetime. Which isn't that bad, considering all the other sites asking for money now.

I've redesigned the site to conform to standards.

raffish.org has been reworked but not redesigned. The idea right now is to try to use it as a gathering place for all the ridiculous media and political crap coming up lately. I've also begun work on cedarphile.com, a community site for the Cedar Valley area of Iowa. After I get down there I hope to find some way to promote it.

Things are going well with the new house. Doug and I have been painting it and it is turning out nicely. We've got colors picked for all the rooms now, which is good. It is also bad, because there are only three weeks before I leave my job and move and available time is getting shorter, it seems. I'm thinking of scanning in the paint chips to see if I can show the colors of our rooms. I'm guessing it won't really work.

I've received the stuff I ordered from the wonderful political parody store run by Micah Ian Wright. I may get some odd looks from people in Iowa, but I suppose, in a way, that is exactly what I want.

Archives of the previous postings will be added soon.

I've been "working" on a painting for my mother for a very long time now (a year?) of a Pipsissewa, or Prince's Pine, I still haven't finished it. I'm lazy. I'll admit it. Maybe she'll get it before I move to Iowa.

In the meantime, I've spent a very short while creating a pipsissewa themed wallpaper, which, if you like, you can view and set as your wallpaper (right click and choose, set as wallpaper).

I'm really getting into this wallpaper-making thing.

We've got a house in Cedar Falls. Two blocks from campus and 3 bedrooms. Yay!

Also, I've put up another wallpaper. An altering of an old postcard with a cedar tree.

Not that I'll be able to go, but Godless Americans is having a march in Washington D.C. on November 2, 2002. At the very least you can sign up to endorse the principles involved (if you agree that is).

I'm officially releasing my first public wallpaper creation. I've made many before (it's a habit I have) but never put 'em up for download. This one is a simple Maneki Neko wallpaper (1024x768). Many thanks to Maneki Neko Club for the image. They have many available for download. Maybe I'll keep making wallpapers and putting them up online....

Please go join the EFF or the ACLU. At the very least go and subscribe to FAIR.

Operation TIPS sucks dude.

As the site is being changed I'm finding things that I forgot I had littering up the web server. Instead of deleting all of them I'm choosing some (of course things I don't know what to do with or don't want to get rid of) and sticking them in my catch-all directory /grab. Feel free to poke around.

Doug and I are looking at houses and found (through a friend of Doug's) the Black Hawk County web site. If you click on "Real Estate Mapping" you can look up information about your house.... or someone else's. :)

Also, you can visit the web site of English Scrimshaw Productions Presents Shut Your Joke Hole. A little freebie site I did for some good friends. The show will be part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival.
